While Pattaya is primarily known for its vibrant beaches and lively atmosphere, it also boasts a rich cultural heritage with its array of stunning temples. Whether you’re seeking spiritual enlightenment, architectural marvels, or simply a peaceful retreat from the city, these temples provide a sanctuary for contemplation and reflection.

Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha Temple)

More popularly known in English as the Big Buddha Temple, Wat Phra Yai stands as one of the most popular temples in Pattaya, located just a 6-minute drive from our luxury Pattaya hotel. The construction of this temple, perched atop Pratumnak Hill, began in 1977. Home to one of the largest Buddha statues in Thailand, the highlight of this temple is their towering golden Buddha statue, standing at 18 meters tall. The statue is visible from miles away and standing close to it offers panoramic views of Pattaya. Wat Chai Mongkhon

Constructed in 1857 during the late reign of King Rama IV, it is said that Wat Chai Mongkhon earned its name for being the victorious endpoint of a traditional boat racing competition during this time, with Wat Sanam Chai serving as the starting point of the race. On the sacred grounds of Wat Chai Mongkhon, you are greeted by the serene ambiance of the Ubosot, or ordination hall. Here, you can marvel at the exquisite mural paintings adorning the walls, blending traditional artistry with modern techniques. The murals, featuring a captivating interplay of light and shadow, vibrant colors, and intricate details, offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Thailand. Located at 13-minute drive from Royal Wing Suites & Spa, Wat Chai Mongkhon is an amazing place to experience its timeless beauty and profound tranquility.

Wat Yan

Wat Yan Nasangwararam Woramahawihan, commonly known as Wat Yan, is a sprawling temple complex located just over a 30-minute drive away from our luxury hotel in Pattaya. Under the patronage of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, its construction began in 1973 and was overseen by Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the 19th Supreme Patriarch of the Thai Sangha. The monastery covers an impressive expanse of 58.64 hectares. The goal of constructing Wat Yanasangvararam was to create a Vipassana meditation training center near Bangkok and establish it as the Buddhist monastery for the reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The compound is divided into four zones: Buddhavas, Sanghavas, Karavas, and an expansive section dedicated to host various royal-initiated and royal development projects. Each moment spent within the monastery’s embrace is infused with profound meaning and serenity.
